Danilo Zucchetti

General Manager, Villa d'Este Hotel Cernobbio, Italy, Graduated 1995, HIM

"HIM gave me an excellent knowledge of all aspects of our profession and prepared me to work in a multicultural environment."

The decisive factors for me to choose the profession of Hotel Management  were an innate sense for the service industry, inherited from my parent's business, combined with a desire to travel. There is nothing more rewarding for me than welcoming guests from all over the world and leading a dedicated team who share a common goal: providing the Best of Service.

The most important and unforgettable moments in my career so far were the excitement of being a part of the pre-opening team of a luxury property and  the nomination received in 2009 by Villa d'Este from Forbes Traveller 400 as "Best hotel in the world "!

My personal advice to students who are interested in following my career path is to try to acquire some work experience prior to your study.  This will help you to better understand the theory and to appreciate more what you are learning. Try to start your career with a highly recognized hotel company which will not only nourish your initial passion, but will serve as a good base for your future career.

My professional philosophy as an hotelier is to always see your property from the perspective of the guest in order to meet and exceed their expectations.  Display the same respect you would like to receive towards all of your fellow employees.
