Tracy Ann Signorelli
Business Project Manager, The Ballet School of Lucerne, Switzerland, Graduated 2003, IHTTI
I had studied International Travel and Tourism in Australia, so the Postgraduate Diploma in Hotel Management was the next step. I have always been interested in Hotel Management so it was ideal. When I graduated I went to work in front office management at the Kindli Hotel on the famous Rennweg Street in Zurich. I then moved to the Widder Hotel, which is a member of the ‘Leading Hotels of the World’ group to work in Housekeeping Management. I loved my time at the Widder, it was wonderful having the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and keeping up the high standards expected at such a hotel. I now work as a Project Manager for a private ballet school in Lucerne where I focus on event management.
Putting together performances with up to 200 performers, working with multiple theatre departments as well as my own team is a great challenge. One of the biggest highlights in my role was the full production of ‘The Nutcracker’ ballet performed at the Luzerner Theatre. At IHTTI two of the most important things I learned were communication and time management skills andI would say to any student who is considering studying hospitality that the skills you will learn give you the opportunity to expand into such a broad range of management positions, so take it all on board. Don’t forget in your career to enjoy and succeed!
