SHMS has been recognised as an Apple Distinguished School for 2017 – 2019.
The Apple Distinguished School designation is reserved for programmes that meet criteria for innovation, leadership, and educational excellence, and demonstrate Apple’s vision of exemplary learning environments.
Commenting on what it means to receive this international recognition, Academic Director of SHMS Caux, Jeroen Greven said,
Receiving the Apple Distinguished School distinction gives us a profound motivation to lead the way in developing state-of-the-art learning experiences. SHMS is committed to continue innovating and creating best practices to optimally serve our students and their future employers. The journey has only just begun!
Since 2014 SHMS has been integrating iPads into the classrooms, becoming one of the first hotel schools worldwide to adopt the 1:1 iPad model. In doing so, the school has been able to deliver quality hospitality management education combining the practical skills required by the industry with a 21st century aptitude in areas such as critical thinking, communication and creativity.
The learning environment at SHMS has also evolved physically, incorporating mobile technology with every aspect of Swiss hospitality education whether in the kitchen, during a banquet or in developing housekeeping skills.
Stephan Earnhart, Academic Director of SHMS Leysin campus shared:
The learning with technology initiative at SHMS has allowed us to revolutionise the teaching and learning experience for our students and faculty. We re-focused our leadership for greater innovation, transformative educational excellence and authentic learning environments. We are most honoured to receive the Apple Distinguished School Award and remain committed to live up to the recognition.
