Ludovic

Ludovic wanted to be a baker when he grew up, but his path led him to study at the École Hôtelière de Lausanne instead. He has over 15 years’ experience in international hospitality management. Prior to joining SHMS six years ago, he specialized in food and beverage management, consumer knowledge, property openings, and leading large event projects for global organizations such as Disney, Vienna International, and Club Med.

1. What has teaching from home been like for you?

Teaching from home was a challenge for me at the beginning, as I’m sure it was the same for a lot of people.

Technology taught me how to communicate with students differently. Two tools I learned how to use that have been essential during this time, are Trello and Mentimeter. Not only have I been able to reflect what’s happening in the industry, but more importantly engage with students effectively and improve the students’ experience.

2. If you had one piece of advice to give your students what would it be?

My advice to students is to always look for opportunities in everything they do. Take the time to analyze how new experiences can be of use in the future. Be one step ahead, as the world is constantly changing. This would include embracing technology, using the right tools to plan, and having a positive state of mind.

3. What’s one thing your students don’t know about you?

One thing my students don’t know about me or will never guess, is that I’m also a DJ. In my previous career as an event organizer for global organizations, I would DJ at events.
